The Youth Leadership Camp is designed to assist teens from the ages of 13-17.5 to begin a lifelong process of learning the value of embracing change, to become a leader within their life and community. In this unique forest and lake setting, using a specially designed seven-day format, teens can discover their true leadership qualities. Today teens face increasing challenges from society, their peer group, and even within the family.
The Youth Leadership Camp is designed to assist teens in enhancing their lives by
- examining the self-limiting beliefs and behaviors
- focusing on self-enhancing beliefs and behaviors
- learning about friendship and authentic trust and peer pressure
- improving self -esteem and self-worth
- acting accountably in life
During the camp, teens will be immersed in a combination of educational and experiential activities, which allows them to evaluate the results of their choices and begin making effective new choices. The goals and results desired from completing the program are recognizing the value and impact each teen has in his/her family and circle of friends as well as the ability to make working choices in creating a life of accountable living.
Learning requires engagement, not observation. The camp is a highly interactive experience. There are some lectures to present concepts, but the real learning and application is through the experiential elements of the week. The week-long camp includes low and high ropes events focused on building self-confidence and better relationships through trust. In the class setting, we continue the experiential learning by using processes and games which while fun are highly challenging.
The camp environment is exciting and innovative! This is a gift you can give your teen to enhance self-confidence and create a lifelong method to achieve maximum results during their teenage years, rather than through "hard" experience later. Increased self-worth and leadership skills often result in the teens becoming better students and role models to their peers.
